The FERCHAU division AVIATION, which specialises in aerospace, has been named “Supplier of the Year” in the category “Innovative and Proactive” by Airbus, one of the world's leading aerospace companies. With the award Airbus recognises outstanding achievement in the field of wing development. The engineering team headed by Richard Parker, Operations Director at FERCHAU UK, helps improve the highly complex wings of the Airbus A350XWB.
Tim Pegler, Head of Wing Engineering at Airbus, presented the prestigious award to Richard Parker at the ESW Supplier Conference 2017 in Filton, UK. “I am very pleased for my colleagues, who have showcased their impressive skills in this project, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them very much for their commitment. It is very important to us to continue to meet the high standards placed on our engineering services in the future and to continue our successful working relationship with Airbus”, says Frank Mahnke, Proposal Manager at FERCHAU AVIATION.
The award, he believes, also sends a positive message to customers, the associated network of suppliers and potential applicants.
FERCHAU AVIATION has been involved in the wing development centre of Airbus in Filton in the UK since 2014; currently 45 of its staff members are working on optimising the wings of the A350XWB. The team also provide support in the preparation and provision of all relevant certificates and documents for the approval of the jet. In August this year, the cooperation was extended until the end of 2019.
The specialists of FERCHAU’s AVIATION division are not just working in the UK: in Bremen, where the high-lift centre of the European aircraft manufacturer is based, the experts of the engineering service provider are working on wing development and on the development, manufacture and assembly of landing flaps for all types of aircraft.
Due to the reliable and efficient partnership, FERCHAU AVIATION is one of 16 engineering service providers to have received the preferred-supplier certification by Airbus. The company has held this title since 2008, and it was recently renewed until 2019.
